The NOSPR fulfils the role of an ambassador of Polish culture on the international artistic scene. The ensemble has performed in Brussels (Europalia), Vienna (the opening of the Polish Year in Austria), Madrid (the gala concert of the Polish year in Spain), Rome (the celebration of the 70th anniversary of H.M. Górecki’s birthday), Kiev (the inauguration of the Polish Year in Ukraine), Paris (the gala concert of the New Poland Polish Year in France), and in London (the inauguration of the Polish year in Great Britain). The Orchestra has collaborated with some of the greatest composers of the second half of the 20th century: Witold Lutosławski, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Krzysztof Penderecki, delivering the first performances of their works.
Each year, tens of thousands of new compositions come into being. In this mass, there are very good, excellent, and congenial works. The New Music Orchestra (ORKIESTRA MUZYKI NOWEJ, OMN), founded in 1996 by Aleksander Lasoń, has explored this area for over a decade, looking for compositions that are meaningful for culture as a whole, engaging for listeners, forward-looking, perhaps unjustly neglected, worth reviving, presenting in public and recording.The results of this activity include over 100 first performances at Polish and international music festivals, a number of concert and studio recordings as well as broadcasts. Many of these have been published on CDs, garnering top international recognition: the Danish Radio P2-Prize also known as the “Danish Grammy” (2012), Pizzicato Supersonic Award (Luxembourg), UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers (Paris and Amsterdam) as well as a nomination to the Polish “Fryderyk” Award (2003).

The wind orchestra from Vevče (part of Slovenian capital Ljubljana) has a rich tradition. It was established in 1900 and from then on it has grown in number of its members and developed in quality. Its outstanding reputation has crossed the Slovenian borders so they are known in most of the European countries. Many of recognized Slovenian musicians have started their career and obrained the basic knowledge in playing at The Papirnica Vevče wind orchestra. At the present orchestra has around 80 active members.

The Croatian folk-group POLJANCI comes from Wulkaprodersdorf. The village has about 2000 inhabitants and lies in the east of Austria close to the Hungarian boarder. Founded in 1977 the group has about 100 memebers of every age, musicians who play the tamburitza, singers and dancers. Croatian songs are sung and accompanied by the tamburitza.

The Riga Saxophone Quartet (RSQ) performs frequently not only at concert halls, but also at schools and churches, palaces and receptions, exhibition openings, open-air venues, etc. With their characteristically democratic style, unyielding artistic aspirations and refined timbre quality and professional skills, RSQ performances have been recognised by audiences, critics and music specialists alike. The RSQ has collaborated with the State Choir Latvija, the Latvian Radio Choir, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Rīga chamber orchestra. In its sixty years of creative activities, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra has made an important mark on the Slovenian music scene, which has been partly shaped by the orchestra’s existence and accomplishments. Since its foundation, the orchestra’s primary activity has been making studio and concert recordings for the national music archive, which is available to radio and television programmes. The orchestra performs an interesting and colourful programme of concerts, attracting a diverse audience.

“Schola Cantorum Riga” (founded in 1995) is a unique men’s vocal ensemble focused on authentic interpretation of early music, especially Gregorian, Ambrosian and medieval chant. All singers are professional musicians willing to share their passion for music with the audience. The group also enjoys doing first performances of contemporary sacral music accompanied by organ and orchestra as well as modern forms of finding ways to the hearts of listeners by performing together with improvising guest soloists (organ, saxophone, percussion, marimba, voice). Such dialogue creates a unique atmosphere where past meets present. The group is very open for all kinds of cooperation and, in this sense, has had very good experiences in the past (different kinds of cooperation with composers, soloists, ensembles, choirs).

These musicians came together in 1978 as students of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. The quartet's members perfected their skills during master classes lead by the members of quartets like LaSalle, Amadeus, Juiliard, Smetana, Berg.The repertoire of the Silesian Quartet encompasses over three hundred chamber music works of which approximately two hundred date from the 20th century. The ensemble has offered approximately forty world premiere performances of string quartets by Polish and foreign composers, of which a selection were written especially for the ensemble.

In April of 1984, Waldemar Dąbrowski, director of the St. I. Witkiewicz Studio Centre for the Arts in Warsaw and Franciszek Wybrańczyk, director of the then extant Polish Chamber Orchestra, invited the legendary violinist Sir Yehudi Menuhin to perform in Poland as soloist and conductor. To match the exigencies of the planned repertoire, the orchestra increased the number of its members, inviting renowned musicians from all over Poland to perform together. The ensemble’s first concerts under the direction of Yehudi Menuhin were enthusiastically applauded by audiences and praised by critics, while Lord Menuhin himself did not hesitate to accept Waldemar Dąbrowski’s and Franciszek Wybrańczyk’s proposal to become the first guest conductor of the newly established symphony orchestra named Sinfonia Varsovia.

The beginnings of Sinfonietta Cracovia can be traced to 1990 when the ensemble “Cracow Young Chamber Players” was founded. Highly skilled, committed and exhibiting new approach to music artists immediately became recognizable, yet their further growth depended primarily on obtaining a proper funding. Supported by Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki, in 1994 the orchestra was transformed into the city’s cultural institution and received a new name: Sinfonietta Cracovia. The Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Cracow.

Most of the musicians in Sinfonietta Riga have been in the orchestra since it was founded in 2006. They are young musicians, several of them students, but together they form a state chamber orchestra being one of a kind in all the Baltic States.
