The Baroque Ensemble Sinfonia is one of the first groups in Greece to perform on period instruments in order to remain closer to the expressive character, the sound colours and the dynamics of the music of the Baroque period. Its members haνe studied in Greece and abroad, close to Early Music spe¬cialists in distinguished establishments, and are now teaching the younger generation of Greek musicians specializing in this field.

The group consists of Fanny Gartzou (recorder), Yiannis Papayiannis (recorder, baroque oboe), Effi Minakoulis (1ute, theorbo), Anghelos Repapis (viola da gamba) and Katerina Ktona (harpsichord).
Sinfonia has performed in all the major venues in Athens (The Megaron, the Greek National Opera, the National Gallery, etc) and other Greek cities, and has appeared οn Radio 3 and Greek Television. In 2002 the ensemble represented Greece in the Sarajevo International Music Festival at great acclaim. In 2004 Ensemble Baroque Sinfonia recorded its first CD with Italian vocal and instrumental music of the 17th century with the title “Nativita di Christo”
Sinfonia often collaborates with spe¬cialized musicians from abroad, and has worked with famous singers such as Nancy Argenta, Michael Chance, Greta de Reyghere, the ensemble His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornets, the conductors Eric van Nevel and Paul Dombrecht, enabling Greek musicians to become part of the International Early Music scene and draw an invaluable experience while offering Greek audiences an opportunity to enjoy Early Music at its best.
