During its 60-year existence, the aim of the chorus has been to develop artistic concert activities through the choral singing, interpretation of pieces of music of Slovak and foreign composers who write their pieces of music in the field of choral singing. The main credo is propagation of choral art and tradition and last but not least representation of city of Žilina and Slovakia all over the Europe and the world. Permanent and particularly important concert activity of the chorus has been to cooperate with professional Štátny komorný orchester Žilina (State Chamber Orchestra Žilina) since 1990. The cooperation significantly enriches the quality of musical life in Žilina. The chorus mentioned significant arts of world and domestic vocal and instrumental work (W. A. Mozart: Requiem, Mass C major and D major, F. Schubert: Mass As major and G major, A. Dvořák: Mass D major, G. F. Händel: Messiah, G. Puccini: Messa di Gloria, P. Krška: Requiem and many other compositions). The choir is rich not only in the repertoire but also in the number of singers, which varies about 60 members, which is not usual within Slovakia.
The Žilina Mixed Choir belongs among the elite of the Slovak amateur choruses and won prizes at the most prestigious European chorus competitions with its domestic and international achievements.
