SlovaCzech is formed by four young musicians who met during their studies abroad, outside their own homeland. As the name of the ensemble SlovaCzech suggests (it is a connection of two English names “Slovakia” and the “Czech Republic”), their repertoire covers mainly folklore music from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. It is enriched by songs and dances from other Central and East European cultures, e.g. Hungarian and Rumanian. Their own unmistekable adaptations and unique arrangements impart remarkable sound and character to both well-known and less known folk songs, without claiming correct enthnomusicological interpretation.
The beginnings of the Police Orchestra dates back to the time after World War II. World War II. The efforts of the then Slovenian government, particularly the Minister of Culture Radovan Gobec, Interior Minister Boris Kraigerja, Chief of Administration of the People's Militia Colonel Slovenia Vasja Gönci, Bojan Adamic, a former conductor of the Slovenian partisan bands and other Slovenian musicians and politicians have materialized in summer 1948 when it was the stone table Vodnik estate founded Band of the People's Police.
Slowind is made up of soloists of the Slovene Philharmonic, an orchestra with a rich musical tradition since its beginnings more than 300 years ago in 1701, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In its long history, the orchestra's conductors have included Gustav Mahler, Vaclav Talich, Fritz Reiner and Carlos Kleiber.
They may indeed seem to have an institutional theater the musical theater and ballet on Slovenian compared with other European environments short period, but given the historical circumstances without any major concerns is proud to look back in time. The history of our stage was lively, especially because the last number of years before we can say that it has prevailed in the domain of Slovenian artists and creators, and that they are in the majority become members of our permanent ensembles. From that moment on, when he stepped on the path of professionalisation of the Ljubljana ballet ensemble, and it was followed by the orchestra of our theater, but until today, it's been more than 90 years.
SNG Maribor is the largest cultural and artistic institute in Slovenia, which is organised into five units: Drama, Opera, Ballet, Symphonic Orchestra and the Borštnik Festival. The Technology Department and Administration Department are common to all of them. In 2009 there were 324 full-time and 150 sessional employees. On five different stages and halls there are 13 premieres held each season (7 dramas, 4 operas, 2 ballets) and 14 concerts, which altogether makes 500 performances seen by approximately 200 000 visitors. SNG Maribor makes guest performances in Slovenia and abroad where, especially in recent years, it has been as one of the most important ambassadors of Slovene theatre creativity.
The leading Slovene harmonica ensemble, SORARMONICA, which works under the roof of amateurish Cultural Artistic Society JaReM from commune of Medvode, »the green door« of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, is a group constituted by four women and four men of various generations of enthusiastic music lovers. They started to play together at the end of March 2013, following work of a year and a half earlier established group with the same name, now completed with a few more harmonica players from different parts of Slovenia, sometimes with added guitar and violin, for bigger projects amplified also with the string quartet. During rather short time of it's existence this ensemble counts a rich number of appearances at different occasions, at different places in different countries (Slovenia, Croatia, France, Germany, Estonia), performing special interesting whole evenig concerts in the churches. A few of the members play some other instruments too, wich enriches it's repertoire, designed by music from the old and new classic to the artistical arrangements of folk and light music, written mostly by Vladimir Hrovat, it's conductor and a member at the same time.
Spīķeri String Quartet is a team of musicians who play together in a friendly and creative manner since 2011. The quartet unites the principal violin of the Sinfonietta Rīga orchestra Marta Spārniņa, the assistant principal violin Antti Kortelainen, the viola section member Ineta Abakuka and the principal cello of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra Ēriks Kiršfelds.
The Ensemble SPRING has its beginning since 1989, when the music teacher Panagiotis Tsouknidas created in the municipality Taurus choirs and orchestras with students. The first name given to the set was "Student Tavros Chorus", then renamed "Choir of Spring." In the following years these sets excelled in school events, the Tavros Student Festival, the Panhellenic art competitions and elsewhere.Since 2006 created a permanent orchestra of young musicians who embrace the ideas of the band enthusiastically. Today the orchestra involved 11 members, while the choir involved about 25 children and young people, pupils and students.
The percussion ensemble Slovenski tolkalni projekt, or shorter SToP, was founded in 1999. StoP is a unique ensemble composed entirely of academically educated musicians. The group members wanted to unite chamber music, exploitation of new instruments, music and sound, and, of course, a joy to have fun!
The band started its journey in the context of the Musical July on the Coast in 2003 - the largest camp for young Slovenian musical talents. Work continued at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under the mentorship of prof. Thomas Lorenz. The four young string players can now boast a number of successful performances at major concert halls in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Germany.
FEGUŠ STRING QUARTET has been performing since 1992, it's members are brothers: Filip and Simon Peter – violin, Andrej – viola and Jernej – cello. They started their educational path at Maribor Music Conservatory, after which their studirs continued at State Conservatory of Carinthia in Klagenfurt (Austria).
NOVA Philharmonic was founded in autumn 2010 on the initiative of the leadership of Music Society NOVA, the story about the creation of a functioning regularly Symphony Orchestra in Gorizia goes back at least a decade ago. The first serious steps have been taken to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the association and the change of leadership in 2006, when it was as one of the objectives of the association promised the creation of a section of a symphony orchestra.
There are few symphony orchestras in the world that can pride themselves on a tradition as intensive and enduring as that of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. The geographical significance of Slovenia, between the Alps and the Adriatic, at the meeting point of the Germanic, Romance and Slavic worlds, and today forming part of the European Union, has permitted musical art to follow the musical trends from North and South and from East and West.
The members of the »Rožmarinke« string quartet have been engaged with all forms of chamber music since their beginnings of musical education.Their desire for music making and performing as a group has inspired them and led them to look for new challenges.Besides the classical music which has been the main occupation throughout the years their dedication as well was to discover the very special repertoire of the »Rožmarin« quartet who mainly performed slovenian folk music and evergreens arranged and composed especially for this quartet by known slovenian composers (and some were arranged and composed by its members).
In the last decade, the Tartini String Quartet has been ranked among the best chamber ensembles in Slovenia. With an excellence of rendition, accomplished style of chamber music interpretation and broad repertoire, the Quartet has significantly elevated the Slovenian concert scene. The Quartet’s cycle of concerts entitled Evenings of Chamber Music, featuring their collaboration with Slovenian and international artists, has been offering soirees of supreme interpretational convincingness and daring repertoire.
The band is administered by a six-member board, and it has as its goals to promote a high level of musical participation and involvement, to provide valuable opportunities for youth through their participation in a large musical ensemble, to contribute to the artistic and cultural development and advancement within the university, the city of Strovolos and Cyprus in general, to encourage and promote the repertoire for symphonic bands and, finally, to contribute towards the creation and advancement of a Cypriot and Greek repertoire for such an ensemble.
Cantabile Symphony Orchestra was established in December 2010. Excellent young musicians from whole Slovenia come together to play in this wonderful orchestra which enjoys frequent collaborations with many distinguished soloists, as well as providing younger and promising musical talents an opportunity to perform with a renowned orchestra.
Symphonic orchestra Domžale - Kamnik arose in autumn 1971 by the merger salon orchestra of the Institute for Music Education Domžale and Kamnik Chamber Orchestra. Conductor of both the orchestra was Tomaž Habe, who taught violin at the Music School Domžale, one year in Kamnik. During this time, he was director of two music schools Stane Habe. Orchestra are already working closely and to exchange instrumentalists. Cooperation between the two municipalities in the music industry is also supported Bozo Matičič, amateur musician and former president of the Socialist Alliance of Working People in Kamnik.
The "tamburica“ is a Croatian folk instrument, similar to the balalaika and the mandolin. "Tamburica“ is the collective term for different string instruments, which are played in a similar way to those of a string orchestra.
